Featurebase Alternative: Compare Features and Pricing

Published onLast updated

A practical comparison of Featurebase and nolby, covering seat pricing, features, migration and what each means for a small SaaS team.

Featurebase's pricing page showing four plans — Free, Growth at $29 a seat a month, Professional at $59 and Enterprise at $99 — each billed yearly, with a Helpdesk and Feedback toggle above them.

If you're looking for a Featurebase alternative, the biggest question may not be features at all. It may be how quickly the cost grows as more of your team needs access.

Featurebase has grown into a broad product. Alongside feedback boards, roadmaps and changelogs, it offers a support inbox, help centre and AI support agent. That's useful if you want customer feedback and customer support in one place. But it also means that a team looking mainly for product feedback can end up thinking carefully about seats and pricing.

This guide looks at Featurebase's two pricing schedules, what a seat actually means, how the numbers work for a small SaaS team, and where nolby fits as an alternative.

A side-by-side summary: Featurebase bills per seat in the dashboard at $37 a seat a month with one teammate per paid seat, while nolby is a flat $39 a month with unlimited teammates. Both leave voters uncounted and both detect duplicates; only Featurebase carries a support inbox, help centre and AI agent.

Featurebase pricing: there are two schedules

Featurebase publishes two schedules for its paid plans: one for monthly billing and one for yearly billing.

The monthly-billed schedule is higher across all three paid plans.

PlanBilled yearlyBilled monthly
Growth$29/seat/month$37/seat/month
Professional$59/seat/month$75/seat/month
Enterprise$99/seat/month$129/seat/month
Featurebase's own pricing page captured twice: with "Billed yearly" on, Growth is $29 a seat, Professional $59 and Enterprise $99; with it off, the same plans read $37, $75 and $129 — a rise of 28%, 27% and 30%.

What exactly is a Featurebase seat?

This is where the seat-based model deserves a little more nuance.

A Featurebase seat is not a customer or voter. Every teammate who accesses the Featurebase dashboard requires a seat, while end users never need one. You can therefore have unlimited end users without paying for a seat for each person who submits or votes on feedback.

There is also an important exception: teammates using Featurebase through an integration such as Slack, Linear, HubSpot or Salesforce do not need a seat.

Featurebase has two kinds of seat. A Full seat is billed and provides full access. A Lite seat is free and provides limited access for collaborators outside the core team.

The distinction matters because the seat cost is really about the people inside your company who do the triage and product work the software exists to support. That is a reasonable case for the model.

Featurebase's Free plan includes one seat. Professional includes 20 free Lite seats, while Enterprise includes 50. Free and Growth have zero Lite seats.

Who needs a paid Featurebase seat: a billed Full seat is required for every teammate who works in the dashboard, and only a Full seat can merge posts or change statuses. Free Lite seats, teammates working through Slack, Linear, HubSpot or Salesforce, and unlimited end users are not charged. Lite seats appear only on Professional and Enterprise.

What does Featurebase cost for a small team?

For a five-person team using Growth:

  • $145/month when the yearly-billed Growth rate is used
  • $185/month when billed monthly

For ten teammates, the same plan becomes:

  • $290/month at the yearly-billed rate
  • $370/month when billed monthly

The choice of billing schedule therefore matters as the team grows.

The useful calculation is how many people actually need to work in the dashboard, rather than how many customers you have.

Featurebase Growth for a whole team: five teammates cost $185 a month billed monthly against $145 billed yearly, and ten teammates cost $370 against $290.

What does nolby cost?

nolby takes a different approach. Its paid plans have unlimited seats, so adding another teammate doesn't add another per-seat charge.

The pricing is:

nolby planMonthlyYearly
Free$0
Pro$39/month$390/year
Brand$99/month$990/year

The Free plan gives you one board, one seat, unlimited voters and a public board.

Pro adds unlimited boards and unlimited seats, along with a custom domain and private boards. Annual billing is $390/year, which is two months free. That matters most against tools that cap boards by tier, where a second product means a higher plan.

Brand is $99/month or $990/year. It includes everything in Pro, with the additional ability to remove the nolby badge. Brand colour and logo are free on every tier, including Free.

There is no free trial because the Free tier is the trial. Voters and end users are never counted or capped on any plan.

Customers who post or vote are not counted by either product, and teammates who only use Featurebase through an integration do not need a seat.

Featurebase is the broader product. If you want feedback, support and customer service capabilities together, it has a lot going for it. Its support inbox, help centre, AI agent, workflows, SLAs and multilingual support make it a substantially wider tool than a feedback-focused product.

nolby is deliberately narrower. It focuses on customer feedback and product planning rather than trying to become a customer support platform. It also keeps paid seats unlimited. Both products look for duplicates: nolby suggests matching requests as someone types a title, and again when you merge two posts together.

When you publish a changelog entry in nolby, everyone who voted for the requests that entry closes receives an email, keeping the feedback loop connected to product updates.

nolby will never sell a support inbox or an AI support agent. Those are outside what the product is intended to become.

So, should you stay with Featurebase?

Possibly. If Featurebase is already working well for you and your team values having feedback and support under one roof, switching purely to save on seats may not make sense.

Featurebase's model also has some sensible boundaries. End users don't consume seats, and teammates working through supported integrations don't need seats. If only a small core group needs dashboard access, the seat model may be perfectly reasonable.

You should also stay if you specifically need the broader support functionality: the inbox, help centre, AI support agent, workflows, SLAs or multilingual support. nolby isn't trying to replicate that suite.

On the other hand, if your main requirement is collecting feedback, managing a roadmap and publishing changelogs, and more of your internal team needs to participate, unlimited seats can make the pricing much easier to understand.

That's the basic reason nolby exists as a Featurebase alternative: not because Featurebase is a bad product, but because a smaller SaaS team may prefer a focused feedback product with a flat paid price.

What does moving from Featurebase involve?

There is one important practical point to understand before making the switch: nolby's importer does not accept Featurebase exports yet.

Today it takes Canny exports. It was built behind a per-source adapter so that further sources can be added, and Featurebase is one of the sources planned. Until that ships, a Featurebase board moves across by hand, and we will do that work with you rather than leave you to it.

That makes the migration decision less about pressing an import button and more about whether the ongoing pricing and product fit justify the work involved in moving. If your Featurebase workspace is small, that may be manageable. If you have a large amount of historical feedback, you'll want to account for the manual work before switching.

So the right comparison is the total trade-off: price, features, team needs and migration effort.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Featurebase cost per seat?

Featurebase Growth costs $37 per seat/month when billed monthly or $29 per seat/month at the yearly-billed rate. Professional is $75 or $59, and Enterprise is $129 or $99 respectively, depending on billing schedule.

Who counts as a paid seat in Featurebase?

Every teammate who accesses the Featurebase dashboard requires a seat. A Full seat is billed and has full access. A Lite seat is free and gives limited access to collaborators outside the core team. Teammates using Featurebase through supported integrations don't need a seat.

Do voters or end users need a Featurebase seat?

No. Featurebase does not require end users to have seats, and end users can be unlimited. The seat requirement applies to teammates accessing the dashboard. Teammates working through integrations such as Slack, Linear, HubSpot or Salesforce also do not need a seat.

Is there a free Featurebase alternative?

Yes. nolby has a Free plan costing $0, with one board, one seat, unlimited voters and a public board. Its paid Pro plan is $39/month with unlimited seats and boards. There is no separate free trial; the Free tier is the trial.

Can I move my Featurebase data to another tool?

Not automatically, yet. nolby's importer takes Canny exports today, and a Featurebase importer is planned rather than hypothetical — the adapter it needs is already built. Until it ships, a Featurebase board is moved across by hand, and we help with that.

When should I stay on Featurebase?

Stay with Featurebase if you rely on its wider support capabilities or if its seat model works well for your team. It combines feedback with a support inbox, help centre, AI support agent, workflows, SLAs and multilingual support, and it doesn't charge end users or integrated teammates for seats.
